'Do Not Travel To Israel': US Updates Travel Advisory As Iran-Israel Conflict Rages On
“ Terrorist groups, lone-actor terrorists and other violent extremists continue plotting possible attacks in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza. Terrorists and violent extremists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, and local government facilities,” stated the advisory.
The US Department of State has authorised the voluntary departure of family members and non-emergency government employees from Israel as the region faces increasing instability.
Citing armed conflict, terrorism, and civil unrest, the State Department has issued a strict "Do Not Travel" advisory also for Gaza, the West Bank, and northern areas near the borders with Lebanon and Syria.
Key restrictions and warnings:Israel: US citizens are advised against all travel, including to cities like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, due to the unpredictable nature of rocket and UAV attacks.
Gaza: The security situation remains extremely dangerous. The U.S. government cannot provide consular services, and key crossings remain closed.
West Bank: Travel is barred due to terrorism and civil unrest. U.S. government personnel must obtain special authorization to enter.
Northern Border Areas: Travel within 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) of the Lebanese and Syrian borders is strictly prohibited.
US government employees are under stringent movement restrictions and require embassy approval to travel near Gaza, the Egypt-Israel border, or northern conflict zones.
Precautionary measures advised:
Americans in the region are urged to:
- Remain highly alert, especially in areas with a visible security presence. Avoid demonstrations and large gatherings. Install emergency alert apps like Home Front Command Red Alert. Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
Travelers are advised to prepare for rapid changes in the security environment, carry emergency supplies, and make contingency plans. The State Department also recommends US citizens traveling to high-risk areas prepare essential legal documents and communicate plans with family members.
