Founded in 2005 through a collaboration between the Jabal Amman Residents Association and the Amman Municipality, Souk Jara was created to promote local culture and provide artesans with a place to display their crafts. Today, it offers a valuable opportunity for emerging merchants to enter a wider market. Its strong sense of community is rooted in a shared goal of fostering collective growth. Its location, in one of the capital's oldest neighborhoods, adds a touch of history to the modern lively contemporary feel.

The creative vision of the market is carefully curated when selecting vendors. This allows for art, in all its forms, to be the main focus of the event. Over the years, the market has evolved into a vibrant celebration of the jordanian culture and lifestyle. towards the end of the souk, the stalls are full with a great variety of local and regional delicacies, combining savory dishes and sweet treats. For those who prefer to cook at home, a wide variety of spices are also available.

The Souk Jara is open throughout the summer (and until September) on Fridays from 10am to 10pm. No fee or ticket are needed, so anyone is free to enjoy the atmosphere for a nice stroll.
