Musk describes Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ as pork-filled disgusting abomination
(MENAFN)
Tech billionaire and former White House efficiency czar Elon Musk has harshly criticized US President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful” tax bill, calling it an overspending “disgusting abomination.”
The bill, which narrowly passed the House last week, aims to prevent year-end tax hikes and raise the US debt ceiling by an additional $4 trillion. It now moves to the Senate for approval.
Musk, who recently stepped down as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has repeatedly condemned the legislation, arguing it undermines efforts to cut government waste.
“I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. He also called out lawmakers who supported it, saying, “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.”
In a recent CBS interview, Musk emphasized that the bill would increase the budget deficit and undo the work his team had done to streamline federal spending.
House Speaker Mike Johnson disagreed, claiming the bill would save $1.6 trillion, reduce spending, and offer tax relief. Speaking on Capitol Hill, Johnson said, “With all due respect, Elon is simply wrong about the One Big Beautiful Bill,” and noted Congress aims to send it to President Trump by July 4th.
When asked about Musk’s criticism, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is aware of Musk’s views but that they do not alter the president’s position on the bill.
