Georgian PM alleges European officials of taking “soviet approach.”

(MENAFN) On Thursday, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze accused European officials of promoting extremism within Georgia, claiming their reaction to these allegations is unfounded and reminiscent of a “Soviet approach.”

Kobakhidze voiced these accusations while addressing recent statements from a Swedish government representative, asserting that Georgia possesses specific proof of external interference in its internal affairs.

“When we talk to Europeans, we say that we have facts. Let’s counter this with facts, not lies and general statements,” he said. “They were directly on stage, making calls, giving instructions on the Maidan. These are facts.”

Pointing to a video released by Georgia’s parliament speaker, the prime minister argued that it displayed evidence of foreign individuals issuing instructions to demonstrators, which he characterized as “indisputable evidence.”

“When we tell you that you are encouraging extremism, we prove it with facts, videos, and your financing practices,” he stated, further alleging that certain European actors are funding radical groups in the country.

Kobakhidze contended that European officials avoid addressing these claims head-on and instead respond with broad accusations and “lies,” drawing a comparison to language used during the Soviet era.
