UAE Resumes Flights to Syria with First Direct Flight in Year
(MENAFN) A Dubai-based low-cost airline, Flydubai, touched down at Damascus International Airport on Sunday, marking the return of nonstop commercial flights between Syria and the United Arab Emirates after a one-year break, according to a Syrian news outlet.
Scheduled services connecting Dubai and Damascus were introduced by Flydubai to boost regional ties and improve bilateral relations, the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport told the news agency.
The first flight's arrival was warmly welcomed by Hassan Ahmad al-Shihi, the UAE Ambassador to Syria, who was joined by a delegation of officials.
This development follows the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority’s announcement on April 14, confirming the reinstatement of commercial air routes with Syria.
