Russian army attacks Ukrainian drone launch location
(MENAFN) The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that it had carried out a successful strike on a Ukrainian drone launch facility in the Kharkov Region. According to the ministry, the attack eliminated all launch platforms, over 30 long-range kamikaze drones, and eight military vehicles. A video released by the ministry shows a large explosion near an airfield, and it confirmed the use of an Iskander-M ballistic missile in the strike.
The announcement follows a wave of drone attacks across multiple Russian regions. Ukraine reportedly launched a coordinated operation, dubbed "Spiderweb," which targeted several military airfields in five different areas. The Russian military stated that three of the five attacks were intercepted without causing damage, while two caused fires to break out on aircraft, which were quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.
One of the drone strikes occurred in Russia’s Irkutsk Region, where UAVs targeted a military facility. Authorities confirmed there were no casualties or significant damage.
In a related development, two railway bridges collapsed in Russian border regions over the weekend in what authorities described as acts of sabotage. One of the incidents caused a passenger train to derail, resulting in seven deaths and 71 injuries. Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed the bridges were deliberately blown up, and Senator Andrey Klishas accused Ukraine of orchestrating both sabotage attacks.
