Kremlin unveils when will Putin-Trump call happen

(MENAFN) Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) revealed it has foiled a terrorist scheme orchestrated primarily by teenagers in the Stavropol Region, southern Russia. The group included nine members, with only one adult among them. The FSB reported that the minor who led the group had connected with an international extremist organization online last year and subsequently recruited the others.

The suspects intended to carry out attacks on police officers at several sites on May 9, Russia’s Victory Day, which honors the end of World War II in Europe. The FSB detained the ringleaders one day before the planned assaults and conducted additional arrests during follow-up operations.

The agency did not disclose the name of the extremist group involved or its exact role in the planned attacks. Stavropol borders areas with a predominantly Muslim population, where authorities say radical Islamist groups continue to threaten regional security.

Earlier in May, two traffic police officers were killed and several others injured in a shootout with suspected militants in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan. One of the attackers was wounded and captured after attempting to flee by car, and two civilians were also injured during the confrontation.
