Media reports Ukraine-born model accused of arson assault on British Premier`s house
(MENAFN) A Ukrainian-born male model has been charged as the second suspect in an arson case involving properties connected to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according to UK media reports.
The suspect, 26-year-old Stanislav Carpiuc, a Romanian citizen, was arrested at London Luton Airport on Saturday by counterterrorism officers. He now faces charges of conspiring with Ukrainian national Roman Lavrynovych and others in a series of suspected arson attacks in North London, the Metropolitan Police announced Tuesday.
The incidents, which occurred between May 8 and May 12, reportedly targeted a car previously owned by Starmer, his current private residence, and a former address. Due to Starmer’s high-profile status, the investigation is being led by counterterrorism police.
Carpiuc appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody, with another hearing scheduled for June 6 alongside Lavrynovych, who was detained last week. According to public information, Carpiuc is an aspiring actor and model born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, and currently works in construction in London.
Lavrynovych, 21, is said to own a construction company and is also signed with a modeling agency. A third suspect, a 34-year-old whose name has not been disclosed, was arrested on Monday and remains in custody.
Both Carpiuc and Lavrynovych are charged with recklessly endangering lives. The property in Tufnell Park linked to Starmer – currently occupied by his sister-in-law – was reportedly inhabited during the attack.
Prime Minister Starmer addressed the incident in Parliament last week, condemning the acts as "an attack on all of us, on democracy, and on the values we uphold."
