Qatari Diplomacy Achieved Great Success For Decades: US State Department Regional Spokesman

Doha: The Regional Spokesman for the US State Department, Samuel Warberg, praised the great role played by the State of Qatar in the field of mediation to resolve conflicts, not only in the Middle East region, but worldwide.

Warberg explained, in an interview with the Gulf Times newspaper, that Qatar's mediation efforts are not limited to a specific region, but include the whole world, pointing to the visit of Presidential Envoy and Senior Advisor for Africa Massad Boulos to Doha recently to discuss the Qatari role in resolving conflicts in the African continent, and stressed that Qatar is making great efforts in this complex field globally.

He pointed out that Qatar has a long experience in honest mediation, where it has been successfully playing this role for decades, and said that as a diplomat, he is fully aware of the files in which Qatari diplomacy intervened and has made progress in bringing the points of view between the conflicting parties to achieve peace.

He added that he remembers when he joined the US Department of State in 2004, adding that he was fully aware of Qatar's diplomatic role, and today, during the visit of President Donald Trump, he highlighted this image for the world to see, thanking Qatar for its continuous efforts, whether in the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, in Afghanistan, in Africa, or other international files.

The American spokesman stressed that President Trump chose the Gulf region as his first foreign tour since his election as President of the United States due to his deep awareness of the importance of this region and its global role, stating that President Trump is well aware of the status of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in global economic and security issues, as well as the great progress witnessed by these countries, which makes them international powers and not only regional.

Warberg pointed out that the military and security relations between the United States and Qatar are a pillar of stability in the region, pointing to the classification of Qatar as a major non-NATO ally for years, adding that the two countries have conducted joint military exercises, training and exchange of experiences, and President Trump is working to strengthen these relations to face global challenges and conflicts.

Regarding the Boeing deal signed during President Trump's visit, the US spokesman commented that it is mutually beneficial, as it will create jobs for Americans and support the aviation industry, and Qatar will benefit from it by developing its infrastructure and increasing its ability to receive visitors from around the world.

Warberg stressed that the United States believes in the two-state solution and seeks to achieve a peaceful settlement between Palestinians and Israelis, noting that the priority right now is to stop the war in Gaza, provide humanitarian assistance and release hostages, adding that the USA will continue to work with Qatar and Egypt to end this war as soon as possible.

The regional spokesman of the US State Department also referred to the decision taken by the US President during his Gulf tour to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria and the impact of this decision on the Syrian people, who took to the streets celebrating the lifting of these sanctions.
