Special Envoy Steve Witkoff Plans to Meet Putin
(MENAFN) Steve Witkoff, the designated emissary of U.S. Leader Donald Trump, is scheduled to travel to Russia later this week for yet another round of discussions with Russian Leader Vladimir Putin, as verified by the White House.
This journey marks another step in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the diplomatic engagement between the United States and Russia during Trump’s second term in office.
Witkoff has already participated in several sessions with high-ranking Russian authorities, including no fewer than three direct encounters with President Putin himself.
He is widely regarded as a key figure in facilitating the renewed closeness between the two nations.
On Tuesday, Yury Ushakov, a senior advisor to the Russian president, affirmed the truthfulness of reports concerning Witkoff’s forthcoming visit.
Later that same day, Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, addressed reporters, emphasizing that both President Trump and Witkoff “wanted everybody to know that the negotiations continue.”
She added, “We feel, again, we are hopefully moving in the right direction, and the special envoy Steve Witkoff will be heading to Russia again later this week to continue talks with Vladimir Putin.”
Although the White House did not reveal the full details of Witkoff’s itinerary, it followed a report by the media stating that he would forego a planned session with European and Ukrainian representatives in favor of traveling to Moscow.
