U.S. Defense Secretary Shares Yemen Strike Details in Private Signal Chat

(MENAFN) On March 15, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared sensitive details about upcoming strikes in Yemen in a private Signal chat that included his wife, brother, and personal lawyer, according to a media report.

The report, citing anonymous sources, revealed that Hegseth provided flight schedules for F/A-18 Hornets targeting Houthi forces in Yemen. On the same day, he also disclosed operational details about strikes set to occur within two hours in a separate Signal chat, which included The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg. Goldberg later confirmed the chat details in a March 24 article.

Jennifer Hegseth, the wife of Pete Hegseth and a former producer for Fox News, does not work for the Defense Department. In contrast, his brother Phil and personal attorney Tim Parlatore are both employed at the Pentagon. One conversation with Goldberg was shared by mistake, while the other was started by Hegseth.

Hegseth's actions have sparked criticism, leading to an investigation by the Defense Department’s acting Inspector General, Steven Stebbins.
