Japan, UAE Agree To Boost Relations

TOKYO, April 14 (KUNA) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Industry and Advanced Technology Minister Sultan Al-Jaber agreed on Monday to strengthen relations between the two countries, Japan's Foreign Ministry said.
During their talks in Tokyo, Ishiba said Japan attaches great importance to its relationship with the UAE, a Comprehensive Strategic Partner, voicing his hope to further strengthening cooperation with the UAE in various fields, the ministry said in a statement.
In response, Jaber expressed his renewed hopes for strengthening bilateral relations with Japan, according to the ministry.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continuing close cooperation towards stabilization of the crude oil market, and on the Japan-UAE Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), which is currently under negotiation.
Ishiba also expressed his gratitude for the UAE's long-standing stable supply of crude oil to Japan and for the UAE's generosity regarding the participation of Japanese companies in the upstream development of crude oil.
In addition, they reconfirmed that the two countries will closely coordinate to make the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai a success. (end)
