Private Vehicles Cannot Be Used As Taxis: GDT
KABUL (Pajhwok): The General Directorate of Traffic (GDT) has warned from now on, no one would be allowed to use private vehicles as taxis.
Drivers, who are interested in using their personal vehicles for transporting passengers, must convert them into taxis, GDT said in a statement.
The directorate informed all owners and drivers of private vehicles that after the release of this notification, they would not be allowed to pick up passengers on roads. Only taxis had the right to transport passengers, it added.
According to the statement, vehicles registered in the names of individuals or companies might also apply to the relevant authorities for conversion into taxis.
Last year, the General Directorate of Traffic had announced a new regulation regarding the change in colour scheme of city taxis - from yellow and white to turquoise and white.
Later, the directorate issued a notice declaring private vehicles and yellow taxis would no longer be permitted to operate or transport passengers on public roads across the country.
