Amir Cup: QFA Announces Preliminary Round Schedule

DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) yesterday announced the schedule for the preliminary round of the 53rd Amir Cup, set to feature only Second Division clubs.

This stage will see eight teams from the Second Division compete in a single-match knockout format, with matchups determined by the league standings at the end of the current season. The four winning teams will advance to the Round of 16, where a draw will be held at a later date.

The preliminary round will be played on April 21, with venues and exact match times to be confirmed shortly. The Second Division season concludes on April 16. For the second consecutive year, the Amir Cup will feature 20 teams, including 12 clubs from the Qatar Stars League and eight from the Second Division, who will enter the competition at this early stage.
