Turkey, Greece Advance to UEFA Nations League’s Top Division


(MENAFN) Turkey and Greece have successfully earned promotion to the UEFA Nations League’s top division following intense playoff encounters.

Turkey delivered a dominant performance, defeating Hungary 3-0 in the second leg at Budapest's Puskas Arena on Sunday. This victory followed their 3-1 win in the first match, securing their promotion to League A.

Greece, on the other hand, staged a remarkable comeback against Scotland. After losing 1-0 in the first leg, they triumphed with a 3-0 win at Hampden Park, securing their place in the top division.

Belgium also produced one of the most dramatic reversals of the playoff round. After a 3-1 loss to Ukraine in the first leg, they stunned with a 3-0 victory in the return match, earning their promotion.

Similarly, Serbia was able to remain in League A by defeating Austria 2-0 in the second leg, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

France, Germany, Croatia, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Italy, and the Netherlands all preserved their status in League A, finishing in the top two of their respective groups.

Meanwhile, England, Czech Republic, Norway, and Wales, who emerged as group winners in League B, also earned automatic promotion to the elite division.
