JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Nangarhar Refugees and Repatriations Department officials say that they have made full preparations for the arrival of a new wave of refugees from Pakistan at Torkham and other places.

As the deadline set by Pakistan (March 31) for the deportation of Afghan refugees is looming, the Nangarhar Department of Refugees held a meeting with officials of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the eastern zone to discuss preparations.

The Department of Refugees in a statement sent to Pajhwok Afghan News said the meeting was attended by Nangarhar's Director of Refugees Baz Mohammad Abdul Rahman, Torkham Port Refugee Transfer Officer Bakht Jamal Gohar, UNHCR's Head of the East Almas Kadyrov and other officials of the agency.

In the meeting, Kadyrov thanked the Afghan officials for their full cooperation in every aspect for the returnees last time.

He added since Pakistan once again wanted to forcibly deport ACC card holders, the Islamic Emirate was fully prepared, as in the past, to provide the returnees with all necessary facilities in every aspect.

He also asked aid agencies in the refugee sector to prepare to cooperate with the returnees in the areas of food, shelter, and cash assistance.

In this meeting, Almas Kadyrov assured that the organization will provide assistance to the returning refugees in various fields.

The Pakistani government has set March 31 the deadline for ACC card holders and undocumented refugees in the country to voluntarily leave Pakistan, otherwise they will be deported en masse after this date.
