U.S. Urges ‘Full Dismantlement’ of Iran's Nuclear Program

(MENAFN) The United States is demanding the "full dismantlement" of Iran's nuclear program, according to White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, who made this statement on Sunday.

Waltz emphasized that Iran must completely abandon its nuclear ambitions in a way that is visible to the international community.

Speaking on a news agency program, he made it clear that the US expects transparency in the process.

Waltz's comments came after Leader Donald Trump sent a letter earlier this month to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, proposing a deal to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities.

However, Khamenei rejected Trump’s proposal, stating that "the claim by the US president that they are ready to negotiate is a deception of world public opinion."

Waltz reiterated Trump’s stance, saying that the situation is reaching a critical point and that "all options are on the table."

He urged Iran to fully abandon any aspirations for nuclear weapons, stressing that if Iran succeeded in acquiring them, it would lead to an arms race across the Middle East, a situation that would be "completely unacceptable to our national security."

He further issued a stern warning to Iran, asserting, "Give it up, or there will be consequences."
