Thales Opens New Avionics MRO Facility In Gurugram
The facility, located near Delhi airport, was officially opened on Friday by Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu.
The state-of-the-art MRO centre will provide comprehensive avionics maintenance and repair services to major Indian airlines, including Air India and IndiGo.
This initiative is expected to enhance operational efficiency for airlines and contribute to the growth of India's aviation sector.
"The Gurugram centre is backed by the power of a global support and services organisation, and aligns with Thales' strategy to expand its presence in India," said Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales.
The facility received certification from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in December 2024. With this certification, Thales aims to ensure top-tier maintenance services that meet international standards.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Naidu emphasized the significance of the project in advancing India's self-reliance in aviation. "This facility exemplifies the collective commitment to building a self-reliant India and a robust aviation ecosystem," he said.
Thales, a leading player in aerospace, defence, and digital technology, has been expanding its footprint in India. The new MRO center is expected to not only support airline operations but also create job opportunities and contribute to the country's aviation infrastructure.
With the growing demand for air travel in India, the establishment of such MRO facilities is crucial for reducing dependency on foreign maintenance services and ensuring quicker turnaround times for aircraft repairs.
