(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Albania, Kosovo, as well as Croatia inked a shared declaration focused on enhancing defense collaboration.

The agreement aims to strengthen defense capabilities, foster the development of the defense industry and technology, as well as improve military interoperability via shared education, training, in addition to exercises.

During the inking ceremony in Tirana, Albanian Defense Minister Pirro Vengu emphasized the significance of the collaboration amidst current security difficulties. “In a fragile security environment, we share a common assessment of threats. Our commitment to strengthening defense capabilities is stronger than ever,” he said.

Croatian Defense Minister Ivan Anusic along with Kosovar Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci both regarded the declaration as a crucial move toward enhancing regional security and stability. It is also seen as a way to improve the collective ability to address shared risks and challenges.

Additionally, the declaration highlights the strong support from Albania and Croatia, both NATO members, for Kosovo’s aspirations to fully integrate into local and Euro-Atlantic structures.

Kosovo’s Premier Albin Kurti expressed his approval of the agreement, describing it as “an extremely important step for security and peace in the region.”
