Vivace's Hardware Supports Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost Mission 1
NEW ORLEANS, March 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Vivace International Corporation ("Vivace"), a leading manufacturer of specialty propulsion tanks for space and defense applications, is a proud supplier to Firefly Aerospace ("Firefly") on its fully successful Blue Ghost Mission 1 ("BGM1") lunar mission.
After 45 days of on-orbit operations, Firefly's Blue Ghost successfully touched down on the Moon on March 2, 2025, delivering 10 science and technology instruments to the lunar surface as part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services ("CLPS") initiative. Throughout its journey, BGM1 conducted several first-of-its-kind demonstrations, including testing regolith sample collection, Global Navigation Satellite System abilities, radiation tolerant computing, and lunar dust mitigation.
Vivace provided critical, low-mass propellant and pressurant tanks, powered by specialized spacecraft pressure vessel technology, to support BGM1 and help Firefly maximize its engine performance during on-orbit operations and as they landed on the lunar surface. The tanks offer complex internal propellant management devices to control propellant through all phases of flight, including orbital maneuvering, translunar injection, and lunar landing. In addition to the BGM1 mission, Vivace continues to partner with Firefly on Blue Ghost vehicles and is currently building hardware to support future missions.
Dave Cochran, Co-Founder and CEO of Vivace, commented: "We are incredibly proud to have supported Firefly on this landmark mission. This partnership is a testament to the innovation and reliability of Vivace's technology and capabilities. We congratulate Firefly on BGM1's achievements and look forward to continuing to provide mission-critical hardware to the team as well as all our partners."
