US United Airlines restart Israel service

(MENAFN) United airlines has made its return to Israel after halting operations for six months, reestablishing itself as the first U.S. airline to resume such operations.

On Saturday, the first flight, UA084, left from Newark Liberty International Airport in New York and arrived at Ben Gurion Airport close to Tel Aviv the following Sunday. United currently operates day-to-day flights on this route and intends to increase the frequency to twice a day as of March 29.

By the end of July 2024, United temporarily halted its flights to Israel, citing intensified regional tensions and security concerns in the area.

In a move following United’s resumption, Delta Air Lines is also preparing to relaunch its first-hand flights between New York and Tel Aviv, with flights scheduled to resume on April 1st.

For several months, direct flights between Israel and the United States were exclusively operated by Israeli airlines. El Al was the only carrier providing these services from August last year until the previous month, when Arkia began its inaugural direct flights between Tel Aviv and New York.
