Amman, March 7 (Petra) -- The weather system that swept through Jordan since Wednesday has delivered a substantial boost to the kingdom's seasonal rainfall, with some regions seeing improvements of up to 52% within just 48 hours, Jordan Meteorological Department Director Raed Al-Khattab announced Friday.
"The recent rainfall has been particularly beneficial for our southern and eastern regions, which have received the most significant precipitation," Al-Khattab said.
The weather event brought widespread rainfall to most areas of the country, with the heaviest downpours concentrated in southern and eastern territories, along with portions of central Jordan.
Wadi Al-Dhleil emerged as the wettest location, measuring 24.5 millimeters of rainfall representing 18% of its expected seasonal total. Other notable measurements included 24.3 millimeters at Al-Rabba (7% of seasonal average), 22.5 millimeters at Southern Azraq (38%), and 21.5 millimeters at Ma'an monitoring station, which added an impressive 52% to its seasonal total.
In the capital, Amman Civil Airport recorded 14.6 millimeters (11% of seasonal average), while Queen Alia International Airport measured 10 millimeters (7%).
With the weather pattern continuing to influence the region, Al-Khattab expressed optimism that rainfall totals will climb even higher, further enhancing the kingdom's water resources for the season.
