
Katara, National Archives Of Qatar Sign Mou To Enhance Preservation Of Cultural Heritage
Doha: In a move that reflects a shared commitment to preserving the cultural and historical heritage of Qatar, the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Archives of Qatar.
The agreement aims to enhance documentation efforts, preserve national identity, and develop joint projects to raise awareness about the importance of historical documentation.
The signing ceremony took place yesterday in Hall 32 at Katara. The agreement was signed by H E Professor Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), and Dr. Ahmed Al Buainain, Secretary-General of the National Archives of Qatar. The event was attended by a number of officials and experts in the cultural and archival fields.
In his speech, Al Sulaiti emphasised that this agreement aligns with Katara's efforts to strengthen cooperation between cultural and national institutions.
He highlighted that documenting history and preserving records are essential elements in safeguarding national identity and transferring knowledge to future generations.
He noted that history serves as a bridge connecting the past, present, and future, and without proper documentation and preservation, we cannot fully understand the evolution of our society or envision its future.
Professor Dr. Al Sulaiti expressed his delight that Katara is part of this significant initiative, which aims to foster collaboration between cultural and national institutions in Qatar.
He explained that the agreement facilitates the exchange of experiences, information, and knowledge, as well as the establishment of joint projects, events, programs, and workshops aimed at promoting awareness of the importance of historical documentation. Additionally, it seeks to advance scientific and academic research in this field.
Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Katara. He stated that the agreement reflects a shared commitment between the two institutions to preserve Qatar's documentary legacy.
He emphasised that this partnership serves as an effective model of collaboration between national institutions, as it enhances the exchange of expertise and knowledge while supporting efforts to document and preserve Qatar's heritage.
Dr. Al Buainain added that the agreement will open new horizons for organising specialised workshops and training programs aimed at developing competencies in documentation and archiving. It will also encourage scientific research based on the study of documents and archives.
