Kuwait Acting PM Reaffirms Commitment To Risk Reduction


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior sheikh Fahad Yusuf Saud Al-Sabah affirmed on Monday Kuwait's firm beleif in hosting the sixth Arab Regional Forum for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) which shows its commitment capacity building and risk reduction.
Speaking at the forum's opening ceremony, he noted that about 22 Arab countries, Arab ministries, representatives of international organizations and diplomatic chiefs are participating in the event.
He emphasized Kuwait's commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and unifying risk reduction efforts amid ongoing environmental and regional challenges.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yusuf also stressed that Arab nations are facing natural and human-induced risks, requiring urgent efforts to strengthen adaptation and response capabilities.
Kuwait, he noted, has launched multiple national initiatives in disaster risk reduction, making tangible progress in governance and capacity building.
He highlighted the forum's agenda, which includes key topics on risk awareness, resilience investment, and sustainable development.
Kuwait has developed a national strategy, the Kuwait Declaration for Disaster Risk Reduction, reflecting the commitment of Arab countries to accelerate the implementation of the Sendai Framework and the Arab Strategy for DRR.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Yusuf stressed that Kuwait Declaration is not merely a document but a reflection of Arab nation's political commitment, praising regional and international partnerships for their role in achieving common goals, fostering cooperation among Arab states, and exchanging expertise to advance disaster risk reduction efforts.
