Trudeau Warns Trump’s Canada Annexation Threat is Serious, According to Reports

(MENAFN) Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was overheard on a hot mic telling businessmen that US President Donald Trump's threats to annex Canada are genuine, according to the Toronto Star.

Earlier this week, trump reiterated his desire to make Canada “our 51st state” during a conversation with journalists in the Oval Office. "I would love to see that. Some people say that would be a long shot. If people wanted to play the game right, it would be 100 percent certain that they would become a state,” he stated.

The US president and the Canadian prime minister discussed their strained relations in two phone calls on Monday.

On Thursday, Trudeau shared some of the details from those calls with businessmen and union leaders at a closed-door meeting ahead of the Canada-US Economic Summit in Toronto. However, the prime minister was unaware that his microphone had not been turned off properly, leading to journalists overhearing his remarks.
