North Korea To Produce Strike Drones Co-Developed With Russia Media

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) In return for sending its military to support Russia's war against Ukraine, North Korea is receiving technical assistance from Moscow to develop several types of advanced strike drones, and mass production of these drones may begin as early as this year.

This was reported by NHK , citing informed sources, as reported by Ukrinform.

According to the report, multiple sources familiar with Russia-North Korea relations told that the two countries reached an agreement under which the North Korea receives technical help from Russia to develop multiple types of drones to be mass manufactured.

The agreement on drone development was made in return for North Korea's deployment of its troops to aid Russia in its war against Ukraine.

The specific models of the drones and their possible technical characteristics are not mentioned in the report.

It is also noted that Moscow is currently reluctant to provide support for North Korea in developing nuclear weapons due to concerns that a potential nuclear test by Pyongyang would significantly escalate the confrontation with the United States and complicate relations with neighboring countries, including China.

In November last year, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected a performance test of a so-called suicide drone and ordered that a system be developed to mass produce the weapon.

As reported by Ukrinform, North Korean ballistic missiles fired by the Russian forces at Ukraine since the end of December have been much more accurate than during launches last year.
