Qatar, UN Sign Pact To Support Doha Analysis And Communication Center
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The State of Qatar and the United Nations have signed a supplementary agreement to support the Analysis and Communication Center of the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, established in Doha in December 2019.
The agreement was signed by HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba.
HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani reaffirmed Qatar's steadfast commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at protecting children affected by armed conflict. She emphasised that this ongoing collaboration reflects Qatar's dedication to promoting international peace and security through effective partnerships with the United Nations.
For her part, Virginia Gamba praised Qatar's role in advancing child protection in conflict zones. She highlighted that Qatar's contributions will strengthen the center's efforts to create a safer environment for children impacted by wars and conflicts.
This agreement builds upon the original agreement between the two sides, which established the Analysis and Communication Center in Doha as a regional and international platform for promoting child protection in armed conflict areas through research, training, and technical support.
