ITU Delegation Visits Zaatari Camp To Develop Training Services

Amman, Feb. 6 (Petra) - A high-level delegation from the International telecommunication Union (ITU) visited Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees to check on some activities and innovation projects at the camp's Innovation Lab.
According to a statement by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Thursday, the delegation, which comprised of Director of ITU Development Bureau, Dr. Cosmas Zavazava, and Director of ITU Regional Office for the Arab States, Adel Darwish, and the accompanying team, were briefed on the work of Norwegian Refugee Center and the training facility.
The statement added that delegates were acquainted on the center's work and its programs, which aim to train refugees on new skills to "better" integrate into societies.
During the visit, Dr. Zavazava stressed his "continued" support for innovation in the refugee camps, noting the importance of supporting e-commerce and developing technical skills among young people in these communities.
Additionally, he noted the importance of building local capacities and providing financing for small projects, calling on supporting e-commerce and developing technical skills among these communities' youth.
