3Rd Phase Of Kamal Khan Dam's Project Inaugurated

KABUL (Pajhwok): The third phase of the Kamal Khan Dam project in southwestern Nimroz province has been put into operation, an official said on Wednesday.

The Acting Minister of energy and Water Maulvi Abdul Latif Mansoor, told a meeting held in this regard that the Islamic Emirate has established security, an Islamic system, and economic development in the country.

He hoped that it was expected from the people of Afghanistan to be vigilant and aware of the enemy's propaganda.

He said that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate is committed to the country's water management in light of the drought situation and the needs of the people, and assures neighboring countries that no country will be harmed by the construction of this dam.

Kamal Khan Dam is one of the largest dams in the country, which was built in the Chahar Barjak district of Nimroz province to control seasonal floods, store 52 million cubic meters of water, and generate 6 megawatts of electricity.

Depending on the water situation, this dam could irrigate 174,000 hectares of agricultural land.

On the other hand, the Deputy Minister of Water Resources mentioned at the ceremony that the Kamal Khan Dam was built for the purpose of flood control and water management, and the Ministry of Water and Energy assured that no country will be harmed by the construction of this dam.

Acting Minister of Agriculture, Maulvi Attullah Omari, also said that the leaders of the Islamic Emirate worked sincerely day and night in various fields to provide services to the people of Afghanistan.

It is worth noting that the Kamal Khan Dam was inaugurated by former President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in March 2019.
