Saudi Arabia refutes Trump, states no ties with Israel without a Palestinian state
(MENAFN) On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia reiterated its position that it will not normalize ties with Israel unless an independent Palestinian state is established, rejecting US President Donald Trump's assertion that Riyadh had abandoned this demand.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry released a statement stressing that the kingdom's stance remains "firm and unwavering" in response to Trump's comments throughout his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday.
When asked if the Saudis insisted on the creation of a Palestinian state, Trump, sitting next to Netanyahu in the Oval Office, responded: “No, they’re not.”
The Saudi Foreign Ministry stated in a declaration that “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s position on the establishment of a Palestinian state is firm and unwavering.”
“His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, clearly and unequivocally reaffirmed this stance during his speech at the opening of the first session of the ninth term of the Shura Council on September 18, 2024.”
