Media reports female who labeled Macron’s spouse man looks for asylum in Russia

(MENAFN) Natacha Rey, the journalist who controversially claimed that Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, was actually born a man, is reportedly seeking Political asylum in Russia. Rey, who made these allegations in 2021 and later published a video detailing her findings, has faced legal action in France since then. She and her lawyer, Francois Danglehant, argue that Rey is being persecuted in France for expressing her views.

Rey described Russia as a nation that defends traditional values and offers greater freedom compared to France, which she believes suppresses political opposition and restricts freedom of speech. She also mentioned that Russia has been unfairly targeted by Western media. Danglehant has asserted that the charges against Rey are fabricated, with false testimony provided by Brigitte Macron's family.

In 2022, Brigitte Macron filed a defamation lawsuit against Rey, which resulted in a Paris court fining Rey €8,000 ($8,200) for defamation and privacy violations. While Rey has not yet formally submitted her asylum application to Russia, her lawyer stated that she plans to send it to the Russian Embassy soon, believing that Russia will offer her respect and protection from persecution.
