US State Dept takes out ‘transgender’ references from advisories
(MENAFN) The US State Department has removed references to "transgender" from its travel advisories, shortly after President Donald trump signed several executive orders aimed at reversing transgender-related policies introduced by the previous administration. The acronym LGBTQI+ was also shortened to "LGB" in the department's International Travel section, as shown in social media posts before the change.
This action is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to roll back initiatives that protect transgender rights and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). On his first day in office, Trump revoked numerous executive orders signed by his predecessor, including those related to transgender policies and DEI programs, giving federal agencies 60 days to halt such practices.
Additionally, Trump has stopped federal funding for gender-transition medical procedures for minors, calling them harmful, and issued an executive order aimed at eliminating “radical gender ideology” from the military. Last month, the State Department also suspended processing passport applications with an "X" gender marker, as part of its push to discontinue accommodations for non-binary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming individuals.
