Egypt's Abdelatty, EU's Kallas Discuss Gaza Ceasefire, Strengthened Strategic Partnership

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas spoke by phone on Sunday evening to address the Gaza situation, regional security challenges, and deepening Egypt-EU ties, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf.

Abdelatty lauded the robust relationship between Egypt and the EU, emphasizing their shared commitment to advancing a strategic partnership. He also expressed optimism regarding continued EU support, including the release of the second tranche from a €4 billion financial package.

During the call, Abdelatty briefed Kallas on Egypt's initiatives to bolster regional stability amid complex geopolitical dynamics. He provided a detailed update on the Gaza ceasefire, underlining the importance of sustaining the agreement, executing all three phases, and upholding the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.

Highlighting the critical humanitarian needs in Gaza, Abdelatty called for enhanced EU assistance to alleviate dire conditions, support early recovery, and facilitate reconstruction efforts-measures essential for enabling Palestinians to remain in the Gaza Strip. He further noted the EU's significant role as the largest donor to the Palestinian Authority.
