Egypt, Equatorial Guinea Foreign Ministers Discuss African Peace And Security
(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a telephone conversation Sunday with Siméon Oyono Esono Angue, Equatorial Guinea's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and the Diaspora, to discuss promoting peace and security in Africa. The call took place during Equatorial Guinea's presidency of the African Union Peace and Security Council this month.
Abdelatty conveyed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's greetings to Equatorial Guinean President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, affirming Egypt's value of the close relationship between the two countries and its commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The ministers discussed positive developments in their bilateral relations, with Abdelatty emphasizing the importance of strengthening economic and trade ties and encouraging private sector investment and cooperation in mutually beneficial development projects. He invited his Equatorial Guinean counterpart to visit Egypt to further enhance cooperation.
They also discussed ways to achieve peace and security in Africa, particularly the situations in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan. Both ministers underscored the importance of intensifying efforts to support political solutions and promote stability on the continent.
In preparation for the upcoming African Union summit, they affirmed their commitment to ongoing coordination within the AU framework and agreed to exchange support for each other's candidacies for international positions, reflecting the strong cooperation and solidarity between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea.
