TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, January 29. Uzbekistan
may become a transport and logistics center for Turkish and
Azerbaijani companies to enter new markets, Minister of Foreign
Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov said during a briefing
following a trilateral meeting with Azerbaijani and Turkish Foreign
Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov and Hakan Fidan, Trend reports.
“In the conditions of serious challenges in the field of
logistics, the geographical location of our three brotherly
countries and their transit potential acquire strategic importance.
Close cooperation in this sphere will not only ensure the stability
of cargo transportation but will also make it possible to create
new transportation corridors that meet the requirements of the
modern global economy.
Today, Türkiye and Azerbaijan are the western gates of the
Middle Corridor, and Uzbekistan, like the Great Silk Road, is
becoming its strategic hub. In this context, we have held
comprehensive consultations on the possibility of using Uzbekistan
as a transport and logistics center for Turkish and Azerbaijani
companies to enter new markets,” the minister stated.
The Foreign Minister added that the sides also discussed the
expansion of cargo transportation along the international
multimodal transport corridor
Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkiye-Europe.
“One of the key strategic issues of our discussions was the
construction of the Trans-Afghan railway. All participants
unanimously emphasized that the implementation of this large-scale
project in the future will not only connect Central and South Asia
but also become an important link in global logistics chains. This
railway will create new economic opportunities for all
participating countries, become the basis for developing trade and
economic ties, attract investments, and strengthen the transit
potential of the region,” Saidov emphasized.
