ITOCHU Advances Green Economy With Sustainable Partnership In Japan
MCi Carbon owns a mineral carbonation technology that combines CO2 with waste concrete, steel slag, and minerals like serpentinite, enabling the production of eco-friendly alternatives for various industries. The partnership aims to establish a supply chain for raw material procurement, sales, and commercialization within Japan.
The collaboration is expected to contribute to carbon capture and utilization (CCU) efforts, reducing CO2 emissions and promoting the reuse of industrial waste, aligning with Japan's push for a recycling-oriented society.
ITOCHU, which invested in MCi in 2021, has played a key role in supporting the company's technological advancements. Mitsubishi UBE, one of Japan's leading manufacturers of industrial materials, has now also invested in MCi, leveraging its expertise in sustainable product development.
The initiative marks a significant step toward decarbonization and circular economy efforts in Japan's industrial sector.
