Luxembourg Calls For PACE-Azerbaijan Dialogue Resumption

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 28. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel has welcomed the resumption of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) activities within the framework of the Action Plan for Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

Bettel made the remark at the winter session of PACE.

"Regarding Azerbaijan, the Committee of Ministers welcomed the resumption of cooperation within the framework of the Action Plan, the implementation of which was suspended after the Assembly's decision not to ratify the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation. We must continue to be a platform for dialogue and hope that, in the near future, points of contact will be found to restore relations," he said.

To note, on January 24, 2024, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe did not ratify the credentials of the Republic of Azerbaijan's delegation.

Against the backdrop of the prevailing atmosphere of unbearable racism, anti-Azerbaijani sentiment, and Islamophobia in PACE, the Azerbaijani delegation decided to suspend its interaction and presence in PACE indefinitely.
