Morocco welcomed a record 15.9 million tourists in the first 11
months of this year, surpassing the total number of visitors for
the entire previous year, Azernews reports.
Tourism plays a vital role in Morocco's economy, contributing
about 7 percent to the country's gross domestic product (GDP) and
serving as a primary source of both employment and foreign
currency.
According to the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, the number of
arrivals through November increased by 20 percent compared to the
same period last year.
Official data shows that from January to October, tourism
revenues rose by 9.3 percent, reaching 9.72 billion US dollars.
Looking ahead, Morocco has ambitious plans to further boost its
tourism sector. The country aims to attract 17.5 million tourists
by 2026 and 26 million by 2030, when it will co-host the FIFA World
Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
This tourism boom highlights Morocco's growing appeal as a
destination for international travelers. The nation's rich cultural
heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities continue to draw
visitors, while strategic investments in infrastructure and
hospitality are expected to further enhance the country's
attractiveness as a global tourist hub. Additionally, Morocco's
hosting of major international events like the World Cup is
expected to accelerate its tourism development and global
visibility.
