Presiding pro-Western social republicans rank top in Romania’s parliamentary voting


(MENAFN) The presiding pro-Western Social Democratic Group (PDS) ranked the top in Romania’s Sunday parliamentary voting, as declared by the firm’s voting organization.

With approximately 100 percent of the polls opened, in the Senate the PDS secured 22.32 percent of the elections with more than 2.06 million ballots, formals declared on Monday

The PDS was followed by the nationalist Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), which secured 18.28 percent with 1.69 million ballots, and the center-right National Liberal Party (PDL), which won 14.29 percent with more than 1.32 million ballots, the Save Romania Union (USR) with 1.13 million ballots and 12.25 percent, and the far-right SOS Romania party with 7.75 percent and more than 716,000 ballots.

In votes for the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house, the PDS secured 21.86 percent with over 2.06 million ballots.

It was followed by the AUR, which secured 17.92 percent with 1.69 million ballots, the PDL with 14 percent and more than 1.32 million ballots, the USR with 12.35 percent and 1.13 million ballots, and the far-right SOS Romania group with 7.6 percent and below 717,000 ballots.
