Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex Committee Meeting Addresses Bannu Security Situation And Terrorism

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex Committee meeting was held today at the Chief Minister's House in Peshawar, presided over by Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur. The session focused on the security situation in Bannu and ongoing efforts to combat terrorism. Participants included representatives from the civil, police, and military sectors.

The primary objective of the Apex Committee meeting was to review and enhance the collaborative efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the Pakistan Army, and the Police in eradicating terrorism and establishing peace in the province.

A joint communiqué issued at the end of the meeting condemned all forms of terrorism, affirming that decisive action will be taken against terrorists, and police operations against all armed groups will proceed without discrimination.

In light of recent events, Chief Minister Gandapur directed a comprehensive policy to be formulated to maintain peace and combat terrorism. Recommendations for this policy were presented during the Apex Committee session.

The meeting acknowledged the cooperation of local leaders in Bannu, who assisted the administration and authorities in improving the situation following two recent incidents. The local jirga had put forth several demands, including the refusal to accept Operation Azm-e-Istahkam and the immediate closure of all Taliban centers in Bannu.

The jirga also called for granting full authority and resources to the police to handle any adverse situations effectively. They demanded the activation of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for operations against terrorists, with no other entities being allowed to intervene.

Additional demands included the immediate transfer of injured police officers to CMH for treatment instead of hospitals in Peshawar or other areas, respect for the sanctity of mosques, madrassas, and homes during search operations, and presenting missing persons in court. They also requested the reopening of roads connecting Juma Khan and surrounding areas, crucial for local livelihoods.

The Apex Committee agreed to all the demands in mutual understanding. Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will address the public in Bannu tomorrow at 2 PM at Preeti Gate Chowk to inform them of the decisions made during the meeting.
