Pakistan PM Condemns TTP Attacks From Afghanistan, Demands Action

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The Prime Minister of Pakistan stated that attacks by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Afghanistan soil against Pakistan are unacceptable.

Shehbaz Sharif stated on Wednesday that while Pakistan is prepared to protect its citizens, it seeks a peaceful resolution to the issue.

During a cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the increase in terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which have resulted in the deaths of military personnel, police, and civilians.

He noted that these problems arose while the coalition government was working on national development, including agreements with the International Monetary Fund and providing a three-month support package for 96 per cent of domestic electricity consumers.

Sharif referred to Afghanistan's role in“increasing terrorism” and mentioned that he has been in contact with Taliban officials regarding this matter.

He said,“How is it possible that we host millions of their people without any complaints? We have treated them like our own brothers, but in return, we have been rewarded with TTP attacks on our citizens. This is unacceptable.”

Recently, an attack by the forces of Gul Bahadur, a commander of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, on a Pakistani military base in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resulted in the deaths of eight soldiers.

Pakistani security sources indicated that two Afghan Taliban members were involved in the attack.

Following this incident, Pakistan has urged the Taliban to prevent the use of Afghanistan territory for such attacks.

Meanwhile, the ongoing cross-border attacks have heightened tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban, illustrating the urgent need for effective measures to address and resolve these security concerns.
