China records 6.5 percent surge in railway passenger trips in summer travel rush

(MENAFN) China has recorded a significant increase in railway passenger trips during the summer travel rush, with 307 million trips made between July 1 and July 22, according to data from the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. This represents a 6.5 percent increase from the same period last year. The average daily number of railway passenger trips reached nearly 13.98 million in the first 22 days of July.

The surge in railway travel is attributed to strong demand for student travel during the summer vacation, as well as increased tourism and family visits. In response to this high demand, the China State Railway Group has implemented a comprehensive summer passenger transportation plan. This plan includes increasing transportation capacity, introducing measures to facilitate and benefit passengers, as well as ensuring safe and orderly travel. These efforts are aimed at providing reliable services and maintaining stable economic operations.

The summer travel rush is traditionally one of the busiest times for China's railway system, as college students return home for the vacation, and there is a rise in family visits and tourist trips. This year's summer travel period runs from July 1 to August 31, highlighting a critical season for the country's transportation network.
