GJEPC Proposes Advance Skill Training To Kashmir Artisans In Gems & Jewellery
The delegation, led by GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah, met with key representatives from the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) and the All Kashmir Gold Dealer Association.
During the meeting, the GJEPC made a significant commitment to promoting Kashmiri sapphires. The council pledged to work closely with the local community to enhance the market recognition of these renowned gemstones, both within India and on the international stage. This initiative aims to showcase the unique beauty and value of Kashmiri sapphires to a broader audience.
In a bid to nurture local talent, the GJEPC proposed comprehensive skill development initiatives. These include training programs for aspiring students and artisans, to be conducted at GJEPC institutes.
The goal is to enhance the skills of local craftsmen and prepare the next generation of jewellery makers, ensuring the continuity and growth of Kashmir's rich jewellery-making tradition.
Looking ahead, the GJEPC announced plans to organise dedicated outreach programs in Kashmir. These programs are designed to facilitate local trade and boost manufacturing activities in the region. By bringing industry expertise directly to Kashmir, the GJEPC aims to provide valuable support and resources to local businesses.
In a gesture of collaboration, the GJEPC extended an invitation to a Kashmiri delegation to participate in the upcoming IIJS Premiere 2024 show in Mumbai. This prestigious event offers an excellent platform for Kashmiri jewellers to showcase their unique designs and craftsmanship to a national and international audience.
The meeting also highlighted the significant potential of Kashmiri jewellery in Iranian and Central Asian markets. The GJEPC recognised the appeal of Kashmir's unique blend of traditional artistry and modern design elements to buyers from these regions, opening up new avenues for export and cultural exchange.
Vipul Shah, Chairman of GJEPC, summarised the meeting's spirit by stating, "We are committed to enhancing the prominence of Kashmiri sapphires and empowering local artisans with advanced skills.
This initiative aligns with our mission to strengthen the gem and jewellery sector, facilitating growth, international recognition, and boosting exports from the region."
