Biden gives another Putin insult

(MENAFN) United States President Joe Biden has once again targeted Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him a “murderous madman” during a press briefing in Washington. This remark came as Biden praised NATO's effectiveness in ensuring global safety through its collective defense principle, emphasizing that any attack on one member is an attack on all.

Biden reflected on the resurgence of fears in Europe following Putin's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, stating, “When Putin invaded Ukraine, some of the oldest and deepest fears in Europe roared back to life because once again a murderous madman was on the march.” This statement is consistent with Biden's previous characterizations of Putin; he has referred to the Russian leader as “a butcher” and a “crazy S.O.B.” in the context of the ongoing conflict. In response to such insults, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has remarked that Americans should feel ashamed of their leader's language.

As Biden continues to launch verbal attacks on Putin, he is concurrently grappling with mounting scrutiny regarding his mental fitness, especially as the presidential election approaches in November. Recently, Biden made headlines for mistakenly introducing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as “President Putin” during a NATO event, adding to concerns about his public gaffes.

Biden's performance in a recent debate against Donald Trump, where he struggled to maintain coherence and lost his train of thought, has led some high-ranking Democrats and campaign donors to urge him to reconsider his reelection bid. Despite this pressure, Biden remains adamant that he is the best candidate to take on Trump in the upcoming election.

With tensions surrounding both domestic and foreign policy escalating, Biden's rhetoric against Putin reflects his administration's commitment to confronting Russian aggression, even as he faces challenges in his own political landscape.
