Kabir To Neighbours: Don't Harass Refugees


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for Political Affairs Maulvi Abdul Kabir has called on neighbouring countries to avoid harassing Afghan refugees and provide them with necessary facilities.

A statement from the presidential office said Maulvi Abdul Kabir met Abdul Jabbar Takhari, the acting consul-general of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) in Karachi, here on Tuesday.

Takhari said dozens of Afghan refugees had been freed from Pakistani prisons while talks were ongoing on the release of others. He hoped the remaining Afghan inmates would also be released soon.

Kabir called on neighbouring countries to avoid the ill-treatment of Afghan refugees and provide them with necessary facilities.

Kabir issued necessary recommendations to Takhari and urged countries and international organisations to continue assistance to Afghan refugees.

According to another report, Maulvi Abdul Kabir the deputy premier also met a number of Shia religious scholars and tribal elders at his office.

The religious scholars and tribal elders said today Afghanistan was in a state of stability after decades of war. They believed cooperation between the people and the government was necessary.

Kabir said all Afghans reserved equal rights under IEA. He assured the group a large number of personnel were trying to ensure the security of people during Muharram.
