Amman, July 10 (Petra) - The General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, in cooperation with the Decent Work for Women Program of the International labor Organization, launched on Wednesday a unified work contract platform for all workers in private schools and kindergartens.
Union President Khaled Fanatsa stated that automating the unified contract for workers in the private education sector is a significant achievement, made possible through the concerted efforts and coordination between various parties, with support from the International Labor Organization. This reflects an effective partnership and strong commitment to taking practical steps that protect labor rights and address legal violations, particularly those affecting female workers.
Fanatsa added that the automation of the unified contract aligns with the collective agreement signed with the Owners of Private Schools Association last year. This agreement includes new benefits for private education workers, extending the contract duration to 12 months instead of 10, and adding electronic wallets as an option for salary transfers to enhance job security and wage protection.
He explained that with the platform's launch, paper contracts are no longer valid for private education workers. The electronic contract, approved under the collective agreement and the unified contract, is now the official document between teachers and private school owners. The system includes electronic connectivity with the General Trade Union of Workers in Private Education and offers advantages such as ease of use, security, multi-factor authentication, and a reliable payment gateway for transactions.
Fanatsa praised the technical committee's efforts in developing the platform, acknowledging their role in automating the contract. The committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Education, Social Security Corporation, Jordanian National Commission for Women, General Trade Union of Workers in Private Education, and the Owners of Private Schools Association, supervised by the General Union and the International Labor Organization.
Reem Aslan, Director of the Decent Work for Women Program of the International Labor Organization, highlighted the organization's efforts to support and protect the rights of workers in the private education sector. She noted that the platform's launch was based on directives from the Jordanian government to protect workers' wages and rights.
Aslan added that the automation of the unified contract achieves the required transparency, protecting the rights of both workers and school owners. This move aligns with the general trend of reducing paper use and facilitates the contract signing process, reducing the need for transportation.
Maha Ali, Secretary General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women, stated that the platform enhances the rights of private sector teachers and addresses challenges from non-compliance with the unified contract. Automation provides better data and coordination mechanisms for concerned authorities.
Assistant Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Mayada Shreim, emphasized the importance of follow-up during the system's implementation to address arising issues.
Haifa Abu Zaghlan, Director of the Quality Control Department at the Social Security Corporation, said that the electronic system for the unified contract reduces insurance evasion, ensures workers' rights, and provides social protection. It also facilitates the inspection process and controls violations against teachers.
Khalil Abu Filat, representing the Ministry of Labor in the technical committee, highlighted the ministry's commitment to the private education sector and its partnership with all parties to ensure the project's success. He praised the platform's role in preserving the rights of both private school owners and teachers.
Ihab Bali, Vice President of the Owners of Private Schools Association, affirmed the Association's support for the platform, emphasizing the importance of protecting teachers' labor rights and building on this achievement in the future.
Osama Daghimat from ONCE IT Solutions, the platform developer, provided a presentation on the platform's mechanism, highlighting its advantages and comparing the old and new systems, along with the steps for issuing the unified electronic contract.
