Qatar’s air transport sector sees 10.1 percent surge last month
(MENAFN) In June 2024, Qatar's air transport sector experienced significant growth across multiple indicators, as reported by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA). Air cargo and mail volumes saw a notable increase of 10.1 percent, totaling 214,823 tonnes compared to 195,029 tonnes in June of the previous year. This surge underscores Qatar's growing role in global logistics and trade.
Aircraft movements also saw a robust uptick of 11.3 percent, with 23,257 flight movements recorded in June 2024 compared to 20,891 in the same month of 2023. This increase highlights the expanding operational capacity and efficiency of Qatar's aviation infrastructure.
Moreover, air passenger traffic surged by 16.4 percent year-on-year in June 2024, reaching 4.351 million travelers passing through Hamad International Airport. This growth reflects Qatar's growing appeal as a key transit hub, facilitated by the airport's modern amenities and high-quality services.
