Stoltenberg Hopes For Ukraine's Membership In NATO By 2034

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has expressed hope that Ukraine will become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance within the next 10 years.

According to Ukrinform, he said this in an interview with DPA, excerpts from which were published by DW .

Stoltenberg also called for increased military assistance to Kyiv on the eve of the NATO summit in Washington, which will take place on July 9-11,

He believes that the stronger this support is, the sooner the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine can end. According to Stoltenberg, Russian President Vladimir Putin is implementing a strategy of stalling in Ukraine, hoping to weaken the West's resolve.

"Putin thinks he can sit us out. We must convince him that he cannot outlast us, and then this will create conditions for the end of the war," the NATO Secretary General said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the NATO anniversary summit, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Alliance, will be held in Washington on July 9-11.

It is expected that the leaders of the North Atlantic Alliance will sign a commitment in Washington to provide Kyiv with military assistance worth 40 billion euros in 2025. This amount corresponds to the amount of annual Western aid to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's armed invasion in February 2022.
