Turkey aims to bolster trade and investment with Tunisia to USD3B annually

(MENAFN) Turkey is striving to significantly increase its trade exchange volume with Tunisia to USD3 billion annually, as announced by Turkish Trade Minister Omar Bolat on Tuesday. Speaking at a press conference in the Tunisian capital at the conclusion of the Second Turkish-Tunisian Business and Investment Forum, Bolat emphasized Turkey's commitment to enhancing economic ties with Tunisia. Currently, the trade volume between the two countries stands at USD1.6 billion. Bolat outlined plans to first elevate this figure to USD2 billion in the near term, with a subsequent target of reaching USD3 billion.

Bolat also highlighted Turkey's intention to boost its investments in Tunisia, which presently total USD700 million. This commitment was underscored during discussions with key Tunisian ministers, including Energy, Industry, and Mining Minister Fatima Thabet Chiboub, and Trade and Export Development Minister Kulthum Ben Rajab. These meetings marked the fourth such engagement within a year, signaling a robust bilateral effort to enhance cooperation in various sectors including trade, investment, tourism, and services.

The Turkish Trade Minister underscored the productive nature of these discussions, particularly noting the decision for senior Tunisian ministry officials to visit Istanbul for further investment talks. This initiative reflects the longstanding close cooperation between Turkey and Tunisia, which has seen numerous cooperation agreements over the past two decades. Bolat's remarks highlighted a mutual resolve and determination to develop all aspects of economic relations between the two nations, aiming to foster a dynamic and mutually beneficial partnership.
