Amman, June 12 (Petra) - A Cabinet session held Wednesday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, decided to approve the mandating reasons for the draft International Cooperation in Criminal Matters Law for the year 2024 and referred it to the Bureau of Legislation and Opinion to proceed with the constitutional procedures to approve the regulation, in accordance with the rules in force.
The draft law seeks to create national legislation that provides provisions for regulating and facilitating international cooperation procedures in penal matters, primarily requests for related judicial assistance and convicts' extradition and transfer.
This legislation constitutes the national legal reference for law enforcement agencies in the Kingdom, and serves as guidance to conclude bilateral international agreements, or join related multilateral treaties.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers decided to approve the validating reasons for the draft bylaw for Students Support Fund in Public Universities and Community Colleges for the year 2024, and referred it to the Bureau of Legislation and Opinion to proceed with the procedures for issuing it, while giving it the status of urgency.
The draft seeks to address the current students' conditions, in accordance with the provisions of Paragraph (L) of Article (4) of the Higher Education and Scientific Research Law and its amendments No. (17) of 2018, and the related legislative provision related to the ministry's tasks to provide grants and loans in Jordan's public universities, in accordance with a system issued for this purpose.
